Huge Wreck on US 131, Lake Effect Snow, Grand Haven Lighthouse Waves

12/18/15 – This was a day for lake effect snow. The models had been showing it, so I set out with my friend Cort Scholten to document the event. We expected it to be a good day for weather. We met up at a carpool lot and then took his car down to the Lake Michigan shoreline. The snow was struggling to get going strong, so we decided to head down to Grand Haven and enjoy some of the wave action along the lighthouse pier. Below is a video and a collection of images from our time at Grand Haven, MI. This is one of Michigan’s best lighthouses, so photogenic! A must see if you’re visiting Michigan. We also found some cool frozen sand formations along the beach called “Hoodoos”. They’re pretty cool! The waves were pretty turbulent also. After that, we drove down to Holland, where the lake effect snow was beginning to get it’s act together. Some heavier snow showers began to move off of the big lake. … Read More…

Rainy Day On The Trails

10/12/14 – It was a rainy day to be out on the trails, but I didn’t let that stop me from heading out and enjoying the day. Temperatures were warm enough to where the rain really didn’t bother me. I set out to fish originally, and then along the way, I found much in the way of Fall foliage. Fishing took a back seat, and I decided to go documenting photos instead. There was fog on areas of the river too, which was pretty cool to see. Some of the trees were a brilliant orange, with red and yellow mixed in. Some of the trees were mostly yellow, and many still green. I snapped an assortment of images along the Fred Meijer Flat River Trail, and also a couple of images that showed the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail. One of which showing the old railroad bridge. I also found a couple of blankets along the trail, which I thought was intriguing. I have no idea what they were there for, … Read More…

Fall Colors, Sunset, and Nature Scenes

10/9/14 – Today was a day that would lead me on a cycling adventure discovering beautiful Fall Colors, and wonderful Sunset and Nature Scenes. I decided to snap lots of photos while on this adventure, so there’s lots to look at below. This is more of a photo blog article, so I’ll keep the wording short. In the collection of photos below, you will see such things as Fall colors, roadside grasses lit up by the sun, Milkweed seeds, a large Fire Ant mound, a Bald Faced Hornet nest, an interesting mushroom, some flowers, and nice sunset scenes at the golf course. All in all, it was a great (though chilly) afternoon/evening on the bike. I hope you enjoy looking through these, and as always, feel free to share this article! 🙂 ~Nature Is Beautiful~ If you would like to purchase any of these images, please feel free to get in touch with me at my facebook page, or at the contact page. … Read More…

Another Beautiful Sunset (Time Lapse Video + Photos)

Back to back gorgeous sunsets on 8/8/13 and 8/9/13. What more could a photographer ask for? I was out riding my bike at the time. I didn’t have my tripod with me, so for the video I just steadied my camera on my bicycle’s seat cushion. The angle was actually pretty good at accenting the sunset, so I’m not disappointed. Photos and videos are below. I captured some pretty cloud scenes before the sunset as well. It was definitely great to experience. Feel free to share this article around! … Read More…
